Dr. Eleonora Buiatti

Psychology Professor at Politecnico di Torino, Degree Course in Design and Visual Communication - Cognitive Ergonomics for Design

A Precious Collaborator for QueLLiDelNaso.it

Dott.ssa Eleonora Buiatti - Docente di Psicologia Generale presso il Politecnico di Torino, corso di laurea in Design e Comunicazione Visiva - Ergonomia Cognitiva per il Design - Collaboratrice Esterna di QueLLiDelNaso

The expert in neuro sensorial ergonomics Eleonora Buiatti teaches Cognitive Ergonomics for Design at Politecnico di Torino DAD - Department of Architecture and Design.

She's been concerned for years of cognitive neuroscience, first applied to the field of art and then to the fields of design and market research.

Author of the book "Forma Mentis - Cognitive Ergonomics Applied to Design" published by Franco Angeli Editore, co-proprietor of the European patent "SounBe",she collaborates with QueLLiDelNaso.

She use to make ergonomic analysis and qualitative research for public and private companies and has prepared for us the research entitled "The Power of smell: An Invisible Force", created on the basis of data collected over the years of study, research and teaching at Politecnico di Torino related to the olfactory perception of spaces, environments, places and products.

She wrote about us:

"The results of an intensive scientific research on the power of smell are materializing in an Italian reality. Today it's possible to understand how this sense is able to change thoughts and behaviors, also very specific ones. So, the strength of defined fragrances can be translated into objective data such as the continuation of the permanence of a consumer in a perfumed place (16%) compared to a non-perfumed place, with the relative increase of the average receipt (15%). However, the olfactory power is useful in environments and really varied places: medical offices, public facilities, stores, hotels and much more. These are spaces that a pleasant smell can qualitatively elevate, both on the immediately perceived image level and also in strengthening the positivity of memory afterwards. I started working with QueLLiDelNaso when I learned that fragrances produced by the company are certified by the National Health System, a key factor for the safety of users."

The Book:

The aim of this volume is to accompany the creative process of the design phase and through the theoretical knowledge of the sensory modalities that influence human action in its relationship with the objects and environments that surround it, is due to practical applications that can help creative, communicators, or designers, to understand the constraints and pathways in the generation of ideas and the development of innovation.

We continuously collect information from the world and use them to produce objects that are used. The conveyance of meaning, through the sensory and mental models channels that people construct around an object, is an essential aspect of the creative process, that must take in account the complex balances, at the foundation of our very existence. Cognitive neuro sensorial ergonomics apply the basics of neuroscience to study human perception, the use of which is designed to measure, analyze and interpret what is perceived and, in its practical applications, also to improve the sensory quality of the artifacts and spaces.

Not just a theoretical text, but rich in examples and instrumental and cognitive techniques to be applied to your own ideas to design and communicate the future.

A book written for: marketing managers, retail architects and developers, visual merchandisers, designers and fitters of retail spaces, directors and managers of retail outlets, creatives, architects, designers and anyone who has the curiosity and desire to explore the interesting relationships between our mind and our senses to the environments that surround us and the objects with which we come into contact.
